C: Now, the book that I have in front of me happens to be a second edition of the book. Probably most of yours are going to be a third edition. The first paragraph will read a little bit differently. Mine says:  'This is the second edition of the book "Alcoholics Anonymous" which made it's first appearance in April of 1939. More than 300,000 copies of the first edition are now in circulation. ' 

But then my book says: (p. xi, par. 2) 'Because this book has become the basic text for our Society and has helped such large numbers of alcoholic men and women to recovery, there exist a sentiment against any radical changes being made in it. Therefore, the first portion of this volume, describing the A. A. recovery program, has been left largely untouched... '
