TNT Collegian Home

While all Club TNT members pledge to be drug, alcohol and tobacco free and, if of school age, to remain enrolled and active in their respective schools; some plan to continue their education after graduating from high school. When is the best time to start planning for college? ITS NEVER TOO SOON!

Check out our getting ready for college links.
TNT Collegian is designed to help students start thinking about and planning the transition from high school to college. Our Academic All-Stars links and the rest of the TNT Resources have been carefully selected to provide a wide range of support for a variety of needs, subject areas, and grade levels, including college. Of course, the ideas and resources at TNT Collegian can also be helpful for high school or even middle school students.

Nationwide, only about half of those that decide to go to college actually earn degrees. On some campuses, it is not uncommon for half the freshman class to not successfully complete their first year. It doesn't need to be this way. Being ready for the different expectations and demands of college is important.

Differences Between High School and College. For some, seeing and accepting the differences between high school and college is the key. Our education systems perform different roles at different levels. College is a whole different "ball-game" than high school. Check out our links for: key differences, links for more transition resources, and links about special educational needs.  Click HERE for more.

Self Understanding. Today's collegians need to understand their learning styles - in many ways, this self-understanding will be the key to success in school and after graduation. Learn more about different learning styles including: active & reflexive, sensing & intuitive, visual & verbal, and sequential & global. There is also information about how we learn and more links about learning styles. Click HERE for more.

Time Management for College Students. One of the reasons that getting started in college can require adjustments is that in high school, time management is not much of an issue. Here is some information about benefits of a schedule, creating a schedule, assessing the schedule, adjusting the schedule, evaluating the schedule, and more time management links.  Click HERE for more.

Goal Setting. Making the decision to do something or go somewhere is a start -- next, we need to create a plan to get there. Goal setting is also an important part of time management, motivation, and stress management. Check out our links for types of goals, goals as building blocks, problem solving, goals & choices, taking action, S.M.A.R.T. goals, and goal setting links.  Click HERE for more.

Motivation. Let's make it happen -- Attitude IS everything! Here are some ideas about how to get motivated: motivation strategies, motivation checklist, and motivation links.  Click HERE for more.

Stress and College Life. Adjusting to college life can be stressful, but making healthy adjustments is part of the experience. It can be an excellent opportunity to learn more about ourselves and how we can handle different situations. Learn more about recognizing stress, managing stress, college stressors, effects of stress, dealing with stress, stress tips and a variety of additional links about stress.  Click HERE for more.

College Math. Math/algebra skills have been called the "gateway to higher education," because virtually all degree programs have requirements that must be met to earn diplomas. College math courses are very different than the ones in high school. Topics covered include: why study Algebra? math is different, get involved, getting help, and more math links.  Click HERE for more.

Learning Tips and Tricks. Learning is a much higher-level process than memorizing facts and figures. Getting a grasp of details, however, is a start. We all have different learning styles and needs. Finding strategies that work is an important part of being successful in college. Check out these resources for study strategies including: repetition, mnemonics, applying mnemonics, graphic organizers, and more tips & tricks.  Click HERE for more.

More Resources for College Prep and Study Skills. All colleges carefully select students and want every student to succeed. This page includes ALL the supplemental links that support each section above, along with links for online resources about getting ready for college (college prep) and academic and college survival skills. If you haven't found what you are looking for yet, be sure to check the many links here. The question is, "will we find appropriate resources when we need them?" TNT Collegian is here to help you make that "connection!"  Click HERE for more.
